TEAM NEWS: Northgate vs St Kentigern’s
Saturday 9th March 10.30am – SMCCFL Division 3
Back in November, Northgate suffered their biggest defeat in their history with an 8-0 humiliation in Manchester. St Kentigern’s, new to the SMCCFL this season but experienced in other leagues, have been blowing teams away this season scoring an average of 6.5 goals a game, culminating in a hideously good goal difference of +80 after 14 games. Travelling with just 11 men, with 1 making his first appearance of the season, 1 making his second, and 1 defender having to appear in goal, all the signs were there that it wouldn’t be a pretty affair.
But now, hot on the bounce of 5 consecutive wins, the Tangerines are full of confidence and welcome their opponents to Chester with a full squad of 14. With just 3 changes from the 4-0 win over Warrington, Clark has every reason to hope for an upset despite St Kent’s officially gaining promotion last week and aiming to claim the title this week (with only a the potential of a 54 goal swing in the final 3 games stopping it being mathematically possible). Last week’s man of the match Josh Coleclough is absent along with injured goalkeeper Davenport and Heathcote, but in their place come able replacements. Josh Slade, Alex Clayton and Mike Taylor all back in the mix, the latter for his first appearance of 2019.
