Kings Church Bolton vs Northgate
Saturday 8th September 10.30am – SMCCFL Division 3
Following the wonderful opening day result in the Charity Cup, Northgate take to the pitch for their first league match of the season this Saturday away at the newly established Kings Church Bolton. With next to nothing known about the opposition, it is down to the Tangerines to be as prepared as possible and to execute their own game plan.
The available squad, however, is changed almost beyond recognition from the previous outing, with no fewer than 10 changes made. Summer signing Martin Harvey, 2017-18 player of the season Lawrie Campbell, and hat-trick hero of the moment Alex Owen are the three highly decorated players that remain. Matt Hilsden (wrist) and Ben Jones (foot) are both sidelined for a number of weeks through injury, whilst Elkington, Slade, Morgan, Holden, Davenport, Heathcote, Taylor and Tonks are all absent.
That means that Clark is back in charge following his own questionable personal pre-season week in Spain, Broomhall makes his return after the birth of his first child, whilst there are also returns for Sharrock, Scott, and Mainwaring after friendly appearances. Debuts will be given to Pete Davies and Scott McNeil, and Ali Kapasi and Matt Ward make their first appearance since last season, having missed the pre-season tour.
